We are pleased to announce the exhibit of Masters of Soviet Photography, offering vintage and early prints from the Wolf Collection, featuring prominent Soviet photojournalists Dmitri Baltermants, Georgi Zelma, and Yevgeny Khaldei.
The Wolf Collection encompasses primarily WWII imagery, but also includes some pre- and post-war photographs, all of which were purchased directly from the photographers or their estates in the early 1990s. These impressive documentary photographs were originally done as file photos for a variety of photo agencies, magazines, books, etc., documenting the period.
A number of the photographs, taken under extreme wartime circumstances, surprise in their rigorous, formal approach, while others promote a partisan point of view in a rising post-war era. Additionally, the online exhibit will include early work by other master Soviet photographers including Yakov Khalip and Mark Markov-Greenberg among others.
Please contact us for further information on any of these compelling images.
