There is something very striking about Rade’s work and interviews: his humour. If I would follow his footsteps when writing this press release there would be two options:
- Writing one super-philosophical - art history - backed article praising every single of his dynamic
- Or telling you honestly that you are guaranteed to have a FUN TIME at the opening, surrounded by cool people (obviously because of Rade’s Aura) and even cooler paintings...
It will not only be fun but also eye opening and good brain food. In my opinion “Ask Peter For Money To Go To Coxx” reflects the ambivalence of intimacy. It is sometimes categorised as taboo, cheap but it can so be romantic. With the rise of Social Medias and nightlife it becomes public, however we still move mountains to keep it private.
Therefore asking Peter for money to go to a gay club: Coxx is about first accepting one’s own identity, then making it public to an individual you trust, in order to disclose it more broadly in a club (where you might even feel the urge to take pictures for Insta). It is all about these nuances, private/public definitions that one has to
experience and reason for themselves. Deborah Anspach
