Jacksonville, FL (August 19, 2016) – Florida Mining Gallery is excited to present Crossing the Threshold of Self, a solo exhibition of Jason John’s latest paintings.
John works with imaginative and inventive imagery in his oil paintings that discuss and comment on identity, space, and composition. While John is a realist painter, he views them almost as abstracts, building his compositions through an understanding of how color, form, and space, alter how the viewer’s dialogue with the painting.
John is interested in the confrontational manner of portraiture, often using eye contact to change the viewer’s relationship to the individuals in his paintings.
John has continually evolved his imagery to create increasingly innovative and influential work.
Jason John’s upcoming solo show will open September 30th, 2016 at 7pm. An RSVP-only artist talk will commence an hour prior to the opening, at 7pm. In order to attend this event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and how many are in your party.
