Flow 305 Gallery presents Material Abstraction, an exhibition focusing on the way artists' handling of materials contributes to the communication of abstract thought. Abstraction often resists explanation, but that is its strength. The poetic, the ephemeral, and the sublime, qualities of life itself, become tangible through the artists' medium. Physical substances become a conduit. Artist Aida Tejada explores acrylic "skin" as her primary medium. She makes these "skins" from scratch, adding multiple layers of texture that enrich the histories of transferred photos. Tejada says, "“My work is a constant exploration of the emotions that define the human being as a species, as well as the situations in which we live, submerged with the absurd illusion of controlling time and space..."
Material Abstraction, an online exclusive, runs from May 12th - June 11th, 2019 Artsy. https://www.artsy.net/flow-305
