Carlo de Meo creates an imaginative route at VOLUME! with the use of daily objects that time and memory develop in a new way and make smaller. The inscription, written with a pencil, between a wall and a column “Sono pensieri per-versi”, means both “thoughts through verses” and “twisted thoughts”. Using these words, the artist works on the sense that is the symbolic element of his artistic poetry and of his Democracy. The exhibition starts with the spatial modification of an empty house. The house has no roof and its floor is located on the lateral wall of the room. Then, you can see a little man on the floor. The impression is that the floor generated the man, because they have the same skin. The viewer gets confused through mirror views and the stairs that brings to a mirror that does not exist. In this way, the artist creates a feeling of “tilt” (haywire), world written in a cavity of the space. This feeling is the symbol of reality’s paradox, just like the little black man with blue eyes that observes the viewers from a tar hole or the naked little man going up the cement’s river. At the end of the location, there is a great site specific’s wall painting that increases the view of the imaginary mirror above the stairs, realized with infinite forms and colors.
