Giuseppe Maraniello - Sponde

Unfinished spaces have an undetermined identity, which can be molded into an infinite number of different forms. Giuseppe Maraniello uses this spacial fluidity adding sculptural figures, converting it into an unreal dimension that losses the common coordinates of physical space. His small sculptures are scattered throughout the gallery. Some are kept like small archaeological finds in slots made in the pavement others hover in the air or remain half in the pavement. The iconography of a boat is repeated through out the exhibition This element can be understood not as a vehicle to return to the past but a need to investigate the collective memory in which we find traces of our own origin.
