Press Release

Every game experience has an immersive nature just like every knowledge experience. The first one is able to create a denial’s route of the awareness. Marina Paris’ route at VOLUME!, following the game’s rules, accompanies the viewer into a different reality based on the childhood memories. She modifies the place bringing the grass, an element from the outside, inside the gallery. The artist creates this perfumed lawn with children's voices that stimulates the viewer through many sensorial perceptions. In this way, Paris opens an access to a dreaming space in which there is a slight difference between reality and imagination. Suddenly, you can hear a periodical and rhythmical sound coming from the last room that distracts from these reflections, taking the viewer back to the real time. In this place, a swing is swaying in an obsessive way, crumbling slowly the plaster’s wall. The game becomes obsession with the violence of the repetition. This makes the viewer lose the way to rationality and makes he doubts on his ability to understand the difference between reality and dreams.
