Mimmo Paladino - Senza Titolo

Mimmo Paladino changes VOLUME!’s place into a stage, like he were opening the door of a forgotten space. He makes the viewer discover a space hidden between history and intimate life, with ghosts that live in the ruins of the past. The floor has a hundred of bronze sculptures that represent the shapes that cobblers used to utilize to repair the shoes. Next to the sculptures, there are some birds eating the borders that is the only reference to life. The light coming from the windows is the only thing that illuminates the space. The first day of the exhibition, the actor and film director Enzo Moscato read his paper “About the order and disorder of the public slaughterhouse”. This text talks about the loneliness’ condition of the prisoners that had the death sentence, with different testimonies. Paladino is an important artist of the Transavanguardia’s movement, who started with painting and then he used different art techniques to represent his own interior magic world. He believes that painting is a sort of space and material. For this reason, he became able to filter the suggestions of a place, giving a diachronic vision of history with continuous symbolic references between past and present.
