In the past, many artists completely changed or partially modified VOLUME!’s location. Roberto Pietrosanti consider this stratification as an inspiration for his work. Therefore, he decides not to invade the space but to amplify its history and essence, with a new different and innovative interpretation of its past. He signs the place in both entrances, through the construction of two walls. In this way, only two viewers at the same time can walk into these new routes. In this very little space, the artist put some metallic spherical balls that seems at the same time simple and complex, light and heavy. The walls compress the spherical balls and this strange layout contributes to define a system of strengths. This system is an obstacle to the viewer’s walk, denying the physical structure and the idea of an architecture delimiting areas. The system of opposite strengths creates a tension that obligate the viewer to look beyond the borders and to start superposing the new image of the place on the memory of the previous layout of the location.
