This Fall, we are also featuring a selection of paintings and drawings by Robert C. Jones. Jones, now in his late 80's, worked along side Paul Berger as a faculty member at UW School of Art. Today, he continues his daily studio practice in West Seattle. In early 2019, we will have our third exhibit with Jones in collaboration with James Harris Gallery - artists Robert C. Jones and Fay Jones will exhibit together at both gallery locations.
Jones also taught at the UW School of Art for 35 years. He received a 2003/2004 Flintridge Foundation Award for Visual Artists, and a 1990 Fellowship for the Western States Arts Federation/National Endowment for the Arts. His work is included in the collections of the City of Seattle, Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Willamette University, Salem, OR, Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA, Municipal Collection of Seattle, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, Washington Art Consortium, and Weyerhaeuser Company, Seattle, WA.
Society pressures artists to camouflage the good time they are having. I come to my studio to paint for the sheer fun of it, for the sheer pleasure of trying to come up with something I’ve never seen before. And if I screw up, I don’t screw up the universe or anyone else’s life. There’s a possibility for freedom in art that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world, and I love it – Robert C. Jones
