Gagosian is pleased to participate in Seattle Art Fair 2017, presenting a selection of works by Edmund de Waal, Helen Frankenthaler, Katharina Grosse, Michael Heizer, Carsten Höller, Giuseppe Penone, Nancy Rubins, Edward Ruscha, Taryn Simon, Robert Therrien, and Andy Warhol. The centerpiece of the booth is Heizer’s Black Diorite Negative Wall Sculpture (1992–94), a 5.7-ton black diorite granite rock set into a weathering steel frame, confronting the viewer with its natural, pitted surface and imposing scale.
In addition to the booth, Nancy Rubins is featured in the fair’s series of Projects & Talks. She is presenting three sculptural maquettes, displayed in the middle of the fair aisles on individual pedestals. The boat-like forms, studies for larger works, use systems of compression and tension to cantilever through space. Rubins will also be in conversation with Jenny Gheith, assistant curator of Painting and Sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The talk will take place at the CenturyLink Field Event Center on Saturday, August 5, at 3:30PM PT.
