Galería La Cometa invites you to the exhibition Espacio y Materia. Entre el Cielo y la Tierra, this exhibition brings together different periods of the artistic production of the Colombian sculptor Germán Botero. His works, witnesses of a solid formation in the learning of space, point out the relationship between the formal aspects of sculpture and the development of civilizations. This is how, in its modular structures, Botero's interest in showing a vacuum in sculpture is evident, while his bronze foundries refer to a cultural identity related to craftsmanship that must put aside its machines to face technological changes.
Germán Botero, architect of the National University of Colombia. He started working as an artist since 1976 when he participated in the 1st Regional Visual Arts Exhibition in Medellin. Then, in 1977 he exhibited for the first time in the Office Gallery. In 1976 he received the first prize for sculpture at the XXVI National Visual Arts Exhibition at the National Museum of Bogotá. In the decade of the 80's he participated in the Olympic Sculpture Park that was held during the XXIV Olympic Games held in Seoul (1988). There he presented his work Arrastre II, a work that would share space with other international artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Sol Lewitt, Wolf Vostell, among others. In 2001, Germán Botero was selected to represent Colombia at the International Sculpture Symposium held in Changchun, China with his works Instrumentos y Arrastre III.
