Simon Reimann, born in 1982 in Cologne lives and works in Leipzig. From 2007-2009 he studied with Neo Rauch and from 2009-2011 with Heribert C. Ottersbach who’s master student he became in 2012. Reimann, who in exhibitions never appears under his real name, but always uses a variation of his name, is a master in playing with realities and identities. “Catch me if you can” we might hear Sirmon Rarmann in his current exhibition say, a show that almost defiantly turns to the viewer with the question: Why not, as always No punctuation. "Conditions and possibilities of art in a political, artistic and scientific context" (... H.C. Ottersbach) is what the artist is interested in. His multilayered works using various media dupe viewing habits and play with our expectations. Reimann, who does not see himself as an artist in the traditional sense, is experimenting with his possibilities, maintaining at the same time a unique kind of handwriting in his work.
And if one would come to believe that he has come down to the hard of Reimann’s multi- layering video installations, paintings or screen prints, the artist is already submerged as Semeon Rhijman and on the way to new horizons.
