French Toma Jankowski’s work is an intuitive assemblage of ideas and notes. Like a huge brainstorming where words, forms and colors arise, his works become highly graphic compositions. The artist uses associations of ideas which lead to a narrative body of work: several short stories take shape in the spectator’s mind when he starts connecting various elements?
In this new show, titled « ECHO », Toma Jankowski created a series of drawings which convey a feeling of light nostalgia. He takes us to an intimate world where his drawings and writings are like an echo to his past and childhood memories. The intimate of the body too as nudes and bodies float in there. Faces and masks seem to emerge. The artist likes to let us wander in some sort of mystery, the explanation of which is never very far.
« Echo » also refers to the artist’s passion for music and jazz in particular. He loves the sound, the resonance of the word. Working in improvisation, like jazzmen do sometimes, his works seem to open a field of correspondence between art creation and our senses.
