Galerie Pixi - Marie Victoire Poliakoff Draw Art Fair London 2019
For Draw Art Fair London the Gallery Pixi will be showing work by established artists such as the American Duncan Hannah, alongside works by some of the gallery’s artists, including Alexandra Roussopoulos, Martin McNulty and Sacha Floch Poliakoff.
Text by Adrian Dannatt / Galerie Pixi is proud to present its first appearance on Anglo-Saxon soil with a celebratory extended-play remix of its leading artists, a delicious mélange of ages, visions and materials bringing a waft of Parisian élan and elegance to Chelsea. Much to the fore is a representative selection of masterpieces-on-paper by one of the gallery’s star players, Duncan Hannah, a New York dandy as celebrated for his punk diaries of the 70s as his immaculate retro-Anglomania; this rare chance to see a full range of Hannah’s drawings and collages will happily demonstrate his technical chops as well as subversive tastes, a penchant for the younger female nicely accompanied by the elder racing car; yes, there will of course be schoolgirls and film stars but also Welsh occultists and besuited bounders not to mention Canonbury Tower, that much loved landmark of north London intelligentsia. This Duncan Hannah mini-retrospective will be suitably complimented by the work of an actual belle jeune fille, the outrageously precocious Sacha Floch Poliakoff, still a student at the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts yet already a veteran of the Manhattan art scene and indeed the celebrated decorator and art director for a forthcoming Paris restaurant of uttermost chic. Throw in some glittering nuggets by the English avant-gardist Martin McNulty, the Ziggy Stardust of social realism, and some dazzling high-toned ultra-bright abstractions by Alexandra Roussopoulos and our basket is complete, your bouquet of delights fresh from the Rue de Seine.
