Galerie The Artist is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by Lebanese-French artist Lee Clement. The chosen artworks are part of her ongoing collection “Timeless”.
Ephemera and graffiti are meant to exist or enjoyed for short periods of time. Lee Clement is interested in using the format of a painting to preserve whatever is contained in "the square'', like inspired imagery, scribbles or scrawls to her canvas.
It is her own special way of capturing portions of the space/time continuum.
Lee believes that art is the witness of its time. ‘Timeless” is the eyewitness of the chaos of our times, the irrationality of the events, the dichotomy of the information that permanently bombards us.
Lee’s “hybrid” paintings show a lyrical approach giving as well delicate hints of criticism or political references in some cases, passing through sarcasm in some others. Lee Clement translating personal emotions through an appropriation practice related to post-graffiti aesthetics, inviting the viewer to make his personal associations.
"Timeless" paintings and their multiplicity of meanings has led the artist to 'cutting edge' improvisation as if she were taking literally part of walls out from the street or parts of the society and carrying them to the studio to create those pieces.
She used mixed techniques on canvas including oil, acrylic, structure, paper, magazines cuts and everything she found in her path while she was conceiving this collection, that she likes to call with a small hint of wit “Fresco of our Time”.
Heavily structured, colorful and energetic paintings like hers defy the verbal. They need to be seen in detail!
Most of the paintings’s titles are birth dates of some of the greatest minds in history.
Lee Clement was born and raised in the Mediterranean capital of Lebanon, Beirut. She moved to France where she worked in banking and insurance before focusing, recently, on her art.
In a relentless search for the beauty and the meaning of the existence, Lee has been influenced by such disparate sources as Salvador Dali, Robert Rauschenberg, Henri Matisse, Richard Feynman, Vladimir Nabokov, Friedrich Nietzsche and Lao Tzu (just to name a few).
Lee Clement’s artwork is eclectic, intuitive and extremely versatile: a true creative soul that finds inspiration anywhere and in all kinds of art types with in an intention to provide the art world with a totally unique point of view.
In a fresh mix of several medias such as acrylics, spray paints, oil and charcoal, Lee has a very unique way of expressing herself through color. Her work comes from a rich tapestry of her own life moods and experiences and is peppered with her fascination of science, nature, philosophy, music, travel, astronomy and geopolitics.
Galerie The Artist was founded out of passion by an artist herself. Its plan is to make art accessible to all by organizing solo exhibitions and art fairs and to be able to continue the tradition of presenting emerging and established artists while focusing on developing the community around them.
In addition, Galerie The Artist is developing the “Art for Healing Project” in partnership with The Rotary Foundation. The gallery will dedicate some of its proceeds to raise money and actively develop Art Therapy centers, buying equipment and utensils, trying to help overcome the difficulties and atrocities the children have witnessed through the Power of Art, and help nurture the hearts and souls of little artists within hospitals or refugee camps.
Art's healing effects can be appreciated even that much further. It does not take much to find a way to touch someone, to make them smile and to ease their pain.
All it takes is the Art of Giving...
Galerie The Artist is proud to present an eclectic variety of international artists.
