The artist Thomas Vinson identifies himself with process art, where action takes priority over results. He works with natural or construction materials such as pieces of wood, chipboard, corrugated cardboard, carton and MDF (medium density fibreboard). The artist does not use any sketches or models to design his objects. He strictly follows his intuition depending on the material he is working with. Vinson's artworks are of high precision and fineness of colour, lines, forms and surfaces. Nevertheless, he is more interested in leaving traces of the objects’ development process that are only apparent upon a closer look. Besides perception, the interaction with the location, and the way the works are hung are of great importance for Thomas Vinson.
Apart from reliefs and objects, Vinson’s new laser works will be shown at VOLTANY18. The key element throughout his work is the line – as a challenge to follow and trace its origin.
