Natalia Mikkola paints with her camera lens – exploring exotic places, creating mystical scenes, and blurring the boundaries between the real and the imagined. Working with technical sophistication and montage, she varnishes her works with a magical sense of the sensual and mythical. As a child, Mikkola’s weekend excursions with her grandmother, an avid art lover, laid the groundwork for where she is today. But the seed planted there and then didn’t blossom immediately. It wasn’t until after a long stint of working in maritime law and economics that Mikkola gathered the courage to try her wings in the creative field. A stint she says helped her establish an outlook on life that proved advantageous to her artistic expression. Mikkola’s photos are dreamy moments in time, more often than not depicting scenes from her many travels around the world, where the pure and untouched nature takes the front seat.
This exhibition highlights Natalia's latest works. Her Fine Art chromogenic prints, mounted on plexiglas (Diasec®) are produced at a renowned lab in Dusseldorf, available in editions of 5 + 2 AP.
