For MARKET Art Fair 2019, Galleri Susanne Ottesen will present three large scale artworks by Bjørn Nørgaard called ‘Aars’, ‘Scientia’, ‘Justitia’. The three sculptures comes out of a project that Nørgaard is working on for Århus Universitet, created upon H.C. Ørsteds ideas of the society being buildt on the three pillers; Art, Science and Justice. The works will be presented for the first time at MARKET Art Fair.
Bjørn Nørgaard was born in 1947 and lives and works in Copenhagen and Møn, Denmark.
He was part of the Ex-School (1964-1969). From 1985-1993 Nørgaard was Professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen.
Solo exhibitions include Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen (2010), Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz
(2009), Museum Fridericianum, Kassel (1999), Tallinn Art Hall (1994), Aros Aarhus Kunstmuseum (1986)
and Moderna Museet Stockholm (1986). He's participated in international group exhibitions such as the
4th International Istanbul Biennale (1995), The Biennale of Sydney, Australia (1990) and the Danish
pavillion, The Venice Biennale, Italy (1980).
Nørgaard is know for his large scale site-specific works among others the Gorbelines for Christiansborg Castle and latest the sarcophagus for Queen Margrethe II at Roskilde Cathedral.
