Cardinal Points curated by Vicky Romay: Geandy Pavon, Esteban Blanco, Antonio Nunez and Jose Ney
Cardinal Points is an intriguing group show curated by noted analysts Vicky Romay. A synthesis of the vision of four Cuban artists on wide-ranging themes that arch from the confrontational to cool detachment.
The past, with it's relentless and indifferent passage of time; the search for that which is lost and the urge for new experiences -- even at the risk of uncertainty -- is what gives form to human sensibility within the vast possibilities of art.
Cardinal Points is an intriguing group show curated by noted analysts Vicky Romay and Frances Sinkowitsch. A synthesis of the vision of four Cuban artists on wide-ranging themes that arch from the confrontational to cool detachment. Expressed in media as varied as painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture and collage, the themes of memory, loss and discovery, speak side-by-side in four very different voices; crumpled paper becomes metaphor; familiar discards evoque longing with an intimate scale; playful objects betray conflict; color and landscape seduce and delight. These are the perspectives which Geandy Pavón, Esteban Blanco, Antonio Núñez and Jose Ney bring to the Ca'D'Oro Gallery, under the direction of Gloria Porcella, this coming on view from November 25, 2014 to January 16, 2016. Opening Reception Thursday December 10, 2015
One need not be a seasoned collector, artist or art professional to enjoy these works. Here, understanding memory, longing and loss is part of the common experience, felt by all, shared by many, spoken in the language of beauty.
