This December, Gallery 1261 is proud to present ONE, a highly anticipated solo exhibition by the world-renowned contemporary artist, Vincent Xeus.
Born in 1980s China, Vincent Xeus grew up with strong influence of Western Cinema through his mother’s introduction. In the following eventful decades such esthetics cultivated during his childhood became a place of reflection, solace and inspiration for Xeus. Xeus paints a time of discovery and a test of courage through a survey of pivotal historical moments and dynamic figures, such as Jackie Kennedy, John Lennon, and Audrey Hepburn. He wants to ignite our aspirations to live with a passionate spirit of invention and instill within the audience a profound sense of belonging and responsibility to create stories of hope, unity and passion.
This particular body of work deepens the dialogue created by Xeus’ previous Solo Exhibition at Gallery 1261 “Hue is Full” three years ago, where the artist investigated and confronted monolithic entities of pop culture. ONE continues this exploration by examining significant historical figures and the impact their presence created on our culture.
Presenting the audience with iconic and revered subjects, Xeus believes that the power of art and beauty can bridge ideological gaps and heal psychological wounds. Through his artistry, Xeus hopes to inspire people to connect using visual forms of communication, relating to one another through art. His works approach the viewer with the warmth of nostalgia, and captivate the eye with masterful purity of form, power of subtlety, and an almost mysterious lens that mesmerizes.
Xeus’ prodigious artistic output has earned him the highest international acclaim. His artworks are in renowned public and private collections, exhibited in landmark museums and galleries worldwide. Xeus is the recipient of international awards from prestigious institutions such as Portrait Society of America and International Art Renewal Center.
Vincent Xeus currently lives and creates in New York City and Napa Valley, California. Xeus served as Board Director of Arts Council Napa Valley and Arts Commissioner in Napa Valley. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture with high honors from U.C. Berkeley and a MBA from Columbia University.
