GRAB A DRINK AND COASTER AT THE 6TH ANNUAL COASTER SHOW
TINY TREASURES LAUNCHING THOUSANDS OF CAREERS
GALLERY 30 SOUTH – PASADENA, CALIFORNIA
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA – OCTOBER 1, 2018 – Gallery 30 South, the small but impressive gallery that is rapidly establishing a reputation as Pasadena's new cultural hub, has become the new home of the “The Original Coaster Show.” Six years ago, Matt Kennedy founded “The Coaster Show,” which has since become world famous for the sheer scope of unique pieces of art by extraordinary artists, many who saw their careers explode from the original show. Combining the quirky, the vibrant and the storytelling aspects of art, Gallery 30 South has set up an exhibit of 1,000 artful coasters displayed in a storyboard fashion along the walls of the influential gallery with Beer coasters proving an able delivery format for one-of-a-kind pieces of art.
By placing the work alphabetically, emerging artists are showcased side-by-side with established artists. The uniformity of the medium elicits a single high-concept idea while utilizing the most lowbrow of materials, and the overall effect is one of awe. One thousand identically sized pieces, each featuring unique artwork, gives guests the opportunity to find a new perspective on each and every coaster. Patrons can spend hours discovering the beauty of each petite piece. The exhibit also gives everyone the opportunity to become an avid art collector given the reasonable pricing on each piece while not compromising taste, integrity or lifestyle. Rarely is art so vital and egalitarian.
Not surprisingly, this format has attracted some impressive individuals–including Glenn Barr, Mauro Caputo, Clayton Brothers, Ron English, Jeff Gillette, Scott Hove, Kaz, Dennis Larkins, Panik Collective, Retna, Mark Ryden, Peter Shire, and Christopher Ulrich among many others. This show has also given the spotlight to artists with disabilities and raised money for charity.
