Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Debbie Gold at a very early age exhibited exceptional artistic abilities. As a child, Gold had a hankering to draw and paint. “I remember when I was six years old, I was painting all the time; in the ninth grade, I sold my first Still Life painting.” It was later after attending The Art Students League where Deborah matured as a painter. She was encouraged to go outside and paint plein-air in New York parks and gardens. Quickly after, Debbie started to show her work in various group shows around New York City.
To expand her creative imagination, Gold moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico and in 1990, opened her own gallery on historical Canyon Road. Discovering a richer aesthetic, Debbie expanded her energy, sharpened her vision, thus refining and deepening her perceptions.
Through her masterly command of the oil medium, Gold has become a first rank artist in her ability to make colors the fundamental means of all her pictorial effects, to use it to build up mass, to fill and organize space, and to compose the form as a whole.
For the last twenty-seven years, Debbie has achieved a position of preeminence well acknowledged in the Santa Fe art scene. The art of Debbie Gold is an art of great beauty that wins over the spectator by its timeless nature. This enduring appeal of her work tends to reflect a harmonious and joyful mood appreciated by art enthusiasts and collectors all over the world.
