Statement

Tim Eitel explores the thin line in between abstract and figurative, reality and imagination, time and space in his works. By painting his figures facing away and without identity, he invites the viewers to become the figures themselves.

Hakgojae Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition of works by German artist, Tim Eitel (b.1971, Leonberg) in Seoul, on view from September 30th through November 12th. Apparition of a Distance, However Near is a chance to view recent works of the artist for the first time in 6 years, since his first solo exhibition in Hakgojae (first exhibition ever in Asia), in 2011. In Art Basel Hong Kong 2017, Tim Eitel had a solo booth, and at the same time held a solo exhibition in Goethe-Institut, Hong Kong, confirming his recognition not only in Europe and the U.S., but in Asia as well.
