“Return” an exhibition of new work by Kay Healy Solo Show October 13, 2018 - November 6, 2018 Opening Reception: Thursday, October 13, 2018
Gallery Madison Park is pleased to present “Return” a solo exhibition of new work by Kay Healy. “Return” will run from October 13, 2018 - November 6, 2018 with an opening reception Thursday, October 13th from 6-8 p.m.
Over the last decade, Kay Healy has created life-sized drawn, painted, and screen printed installations addressing themes of home, loss, and displacement. Her projects involve interviewing people and re-creating objects and imagery from their stories. For example, immigrants, Japanese internment survivors, displaced seniors, individuals who were formerly homeless and refugees.
She makes the screen printed, stuffed, and sewn life-size objects and domestic spaces to tell people's stories, and to embody vivid memories of people, places, and events from their lives. From armchairs to frying pans, side tables to Teletubbies, each piece is based on a person’s story of an object that they have lost and wish they could still have.
