Gandy gallery is pleased to announce its participation at Arco Madrid 2017 presenting works of Lia Perjovschi (RO) and Oto Hudec (SK). This accouplement should induce a dialogue between two authors whose work may seem completely different at first sight. Oto Hudec (1981) is young multimedia artist, born and based in Slovakia. Concerning the techniques he uses, his oeuvre is very heterogeneous, ranging from sculpture, through photography, painting to video. Lia Perjovschi (1961) expresses herself mostly through conceptual projects which take the form of subtle objects, installations or minimalist diagrams. What connects these artists, are, among others, the topics they are focused on, the attitudes they have chosen to examine the historical or today facts. On the one hand, for Hudec's work the interest in very current problems is significant. He brings attention to the migration crisis, environmental problems or social inequality – to the reality of the contemporary world. On the other hand, through her large scale diagrams and installations Perjovschi is following historical or intellectual events and ideas which she considers important for the evolution of the universe and the humankind, the development of our society or even of the art history. For several years she is working on one of her most important projects - "Knowledge Museum" based on broad research from different domains.
