Multidisciplinary eco-warrior artists, Gillie and Marc, are proud to launch their latest groundbreaking collection – Above and Beyond – inspired by Africa’s extraordinary land an animals as seen from above. Showcasing abstract scenes of movement and balance, Above and Beyond is a thought-provoking depiction life and conservation.
While studying rhinos in Africa, Gillie and Marc spend hundreds of hours in small planes peering at animal migrations across vast landmasses. They were captivated by the abstraction of life from above, which offered a clear vision of the graceful balance that’s critical to the thriving of all living thing. They understood the scene to be at once dramatic and serene; that these forces were one in the same.
From their small plane windows, the flow of land and animals told a story that could not be seen from below. The movement’s tranquility was an art of its own. From this perspective, the unparalleled importance of protecting the active forces of nature became blindingly clear to Gillie and Marc.
Their new large abstract artworks, which feature awe-inspiring aerial views of the African plains dotted with animal migrations, will play an important role in conservation by raising proceeds for African landowners to protect their native wildlife.
Through Above and Beyond, Gillie and Marc engage viewers with experiences that are insulated from the disarray of the modern world. The artists believe an important piece of conservation is inspiring audiences to protect the natural world by sharing the beautiful stories of existence in balance.
