Miglė Kosinskaitė and Mantas Daujotas – two painters who are connected not only by their choice of the same profession but also by blood relation in this exhibition seek to determine how much influence this connection has in their creation, how much influence did the general environment for their aesthetic perception?
Exhibited artworks are full of surrealism, pop art and realism features but they are developed very differently in artist‘s creation. Mantas Daujotas explores space, environment he is surrounded by and it‘s fragments – empty spaces in which only certain objects define that someone was here, that certain memories happened here. In artworks by Miglė Kosinskaitė there are many charac-ters - theatrical, but also mysterious personages whose characters are formed through color, sur-realistic details and scenes. By combining the works of these two authors, an interesting story comes up about environment they are surrounded by, a variety of visuals intertwined with person-al experiences.
“Idea to make an exhibition together came spontaneously but not accidentally. We always want to collaborate with someone who is culturally close and who can be more close if not a person who is related with blood type and same choice of profession. There is a saying “common blood type people” when you want to describe people who think similarly, who has same worldview. So, we want to find out what kind of relationship is between creators from two different generations, is it simply genetic, or more closely related to common cultural experiences, family memories and traditions. How many things come with a genetically encoded program, and how much can we influence ourselves by learning one or another thing, gaining a variety of life experiences?
How much capacity we have to change the genetic code, correct the program's “errors”, and ex-tract the worst “viruses”, identify the weak points and turn them into advantages and virtues. What are these so called “family values”? Is it traditions and antique items or perhaps a common playlist? We think that the viewer may also be interested in the mood in which a young painter who starts his life lives, what kind of creativity and life problems he is dealing with, what makes the biggest influence at this stage comparing with his mother who is from older generation, and already is in half-way of her career. At what stage there is more freedom? How far can they run from themselves?” - says the authors.
