Benjamin Haag - Patrick Hanke
Two artists that don’t know each other, two artistic positions that enter into dialogue with each other – the exhibition “Combine – Benjamin Haag – Patrick Hanke” combines, discusses, draws comparisons, takes a closer look on differences and asks questions. What happens when two artists with their own ideas and imaginations use the same material, in this case paper, as springboard of their work? Is the result quite similar or quite different?
In this exhibition, Benjamin Haag and Patrick Hanke show the multifacetedness of this medium. Sculpture clashes on painting, lightness and transparency clash on dense and dark structures. Fugitive moments of crushed paper, conserved for eternity, get into touch with vivid colours, that open up fascinating image spaces. For the viewer, the spectrum of the medium paper gets perceptible – physical with the filigree paper objects and optical with the depth in space of the bright painting, that invites us to immerse into these worlds made of colour and that encourages us to a new view on paper and its creative possibilities.
The exhibition is the prelude to a new format, in which in the future we will regularly combine and get into dialogue different artistic positions.
