Haines Gallery proudly presents Backscatter, our third solo exhibition with Baltimore-based Iranian artist Taha Heydari (b. 1986, Tehran). Heydari’s latest works draw from issues of an Iranian women’s magazine published in the years leading up to Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution. Meticulously rendered, arresting in their bold colors and
seamless integration of disparate representational strategies, these new paintings excavate traces of a bygone era from popular media, revealing how cultural ruptures produce shifts in ideology and identity.
