Singapore, 15 January 2016 – Kato Art Duo is proud to present New York City bases Israeli artist Yigal OZERI, who will hold his first solo exhibition in Singapore at the gallery’s premises at the Raffles Hotel Arcade. This exhibition will be open to public from 15 January to 14 February 2016. Ozeri is best known for his large – scale cinematic portraits of young women in vast transcending landscapes.
The artist’s near photo- realistic oil paintings convey the spirit of his subjects in a grand array of natural settings: from abundant rain forests to dreary deserts. Thousands of tiny brushstrokes animate his lifelike paintings giving way to a remarkable realism, distinct beauty, and seductive power. Ozeri seizes fleeting moments and gives them life. As a result, the viewers are compelled to gaze into the allegorical domain between reality and fantasy.
Ozeri started as a semi figurative painter and his work started to evolve gradually when he emigrated from Israel to New York. Once he did a series of painting from real life pigeons that were outside his studio in Long Island City. The series was painted from real life and from photographs. Then he started painting the windows that the pigeons were nesting on. Thereafter, from the Window series he started to use a camera, and it was then his work has shifted from art history and reference to scenes from reality. The artist often describes his works as romantic, connecting fantasy with reality. He paints photorealism in a digital age with the perception that deals with the moment, which confuses photograph and painting.
Hiroshi Kato, Gallery Founder of Kato Art Duo said, ‘We are honored and pleased to present Delicate Beings by Yigal Ozeri in Kato Art Duo. Ozeri is an amazing artist, he captures the dreamy light and the poetic faces in the midst of beautiful fairytale like natural environments with the utmost dedication. I admire his patience and skills to create romantic paintings, connecting fantasy and reality in perfection with a thousand tiny brushstrokes.’ Delicate Beings will feature a series of photorealistic portraits of young women in nature’s dreamy light set in the midst of beautiful fairytale like natural environment. In collaboration with Kato Art Duo, Ozeri will also be presenting a special painting of Princess Kako of Akishino with a modern twist.
