Los Angeles, December 12th, 2018 – The Future Perfect is pleased to announce it will be showing never-before-seen photographs and films of pop art pioneer Andy Warhol exclusively at Casa Perfect during Frieze LA. The private cocktail party celebrating the exhibit will be held on Friday, February 15th.
Throughout his career, Andy Warhol was deeply committed to photography, which was central to his art. He began with appropriated images from the early 1960s of Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, Elvis Presley and Marlon Brando, and then expanded into a documentarian approach by taking friends and collectors into Times Square photobooths, near “The Silver Factory.” He continued with his Polaroid camera in the 60s and 70s, and later transitioned to a 35mm Minolta camera, which he used from 1976 until his death in 1987.
In its first installation featuring fine art, The Future Perfect will display some of Warhol’s never exhibited images and footage, which explore his personal life and intimate encounters. More diaristic in nature than the emblematic celebrity portraits, a series of photobooth strips, unique silver gelatin prints, stitched photos, and short films will be shown at Casa Perfect starting the week of February 11th.
