Cowan’s exhibition title, Salacia, honors the mythological Roman female divinity of the sea. Her name is derived from the word ‘sal’ (Latin for salt), sometimes literally translated as ‘sensational.’ A pressed glass cup motif with a version of the goddess dating back to the 1920
