HEXTON GALLERY ANNOUNCES ARTIST / MUSICIAN SCOTT AVETT
Hexton Gallery announces representation of artist and musician, Scott Avett. In conjunction with this announcement the North Carolina Museum of Art will be mounting a solo exhibition of Avett’s work entitled Scott Avett: The End of a Secret, October 19, 2019 to February 2, 2020. (Further information about the NCMA show at: https://ncartmuseum.org/exhibitions/view/39556).
Hexton Gallery will preview select works from Scott Avett at this year’s Art Miami fair.
Internationally recognized as co-founder of the Grammy nominated band The Avett Brothers, Scott Avett has been a working artist, focusing on painting and printmaking, since he earned a BFA in studio art from East Carolina University in 2000. But until now this art-making part of his life has been a secret and a more solitary creative pursuit in comparison to his life as a musician, singer, and songwriter.
Like his songs, Avett’s paintings speak to universal issues of spirituality and struggle, love and loss, heartache and joy, as well as more personal stories of career, family, and living in the South. Avett’s work also includes prints and paintings related to his musical career.
