The Art Gallery Il Ponte Contemporanea “Showcase” in collaboration with the 2RC will open its new space with the exhibition “Sei Canzoni” by Sandro Chia, in Testaccio area, Rome.
The engraving of the six "Sei Canzoni" subjects, by Sandro Chia where made in the studio 2RC Edizioni d'Arte in Rome and Montalcino, in the studio of the artist, in a true and close collaboration between Sandro Chia, Valter, Eleonora and Simona Rossi in three years, from 2014 to 2017, of intense and enjoyable work.
The printing of the six engravings was realized in the non-profit ONLUS Association 2RC Officina Contemponaneo based in Viareggio.
The book is composed of the engravings, 7 poems of the artist and a text by Achille Bonito Oliva.
“Chia’s mobility of output stems from the urge to bypass the geometry of all objects that are stuck in one idea of the world, frozen in an ideological framework. Comic figures and others on the very edge of drama, strong and faint shades of colour, flow ceaselessly over the surface of the picture, following the dictates of a sensitivity that, like a peacock, opens its tail feathers, flaunting its skill in constantly transmuting into another style. The single works become small passages, silent stopovers in the ambit of style, of great style, the style which enables the artist to find identity through the act of doing”. – Achille Bonito Oliva
