Press Release

To communicate through silence is a link between the thoughts of man.
-Marcel Marceau
In the depth of silence, one is able to better distinguish a critical sound often ignored, that of the mind as it dissects and analyzes surroundings, experiences, and sensations. Silence allows reflection, upon which one ponders different questions based on personal understanding.
Industry Gallery’s upcoming exhibition Communicate Silently will harness that humming in your brain. Let your mind guide you through this artistic journey permits an infinite range of interpretations & impressions. Our featured artists, each an emerging SoCal designer, will display work without the constraints of prior critique or reputation. Communicate Silently pushes both the viewer and the artist to discover fresh understandings through the power of design.
So what should you expect to see among the silence? 3D-printed vase designs by Chris Fong, highlight an entwining of form & function; each ceramic vase poignant with its precise form still serves a utilitarian purpose. Julie Graham’s Wai:ng to Exhale plays on social constructs by using traditional woodworking methods to comment of sexual acceptance through generations. Chris Crosson tests your understanding of mathematics with his geometric construction forming arithmetic art.
Let’s not say too much. After all, we want this exhibition to spark a unique inner dialogue, and to achieve that, we must keep quiet.
Opening Reception is June 5th 2015 from 5pm - 9:30pm at Industry Gallery in the Pacific Design Center
