Press Release

The title of our group exhibition, PLAN VIEW, is derived from a series of lithographs and collages by Barry Le Va, which were made between 1989 and 1991 in Munich, and were exhibited in the Baaderstraße 56 B gallery at that time. Although the title was not the starting point for the artists in this exhibition, it nonetheless brings them together conceptually. The paintings, drawings and prints of the following artists will be on show:

Josef Albers
Thomas Arnolds
Heinz Butz
André Butzer
Wolfram Erber
Julius Heinemann
Imi Knoebel
Barry Le Va
Lawrence Power
Fred Sandback
Al Taylor
Richard Tuttle
Johannes Tassilo Walter

This heterogeneous and tension-filled constellation of artists continues to reflect Galerie Jahn und Jahn’s approach to their programme. Many of the artists – such as Heinz Butz, Wolfram Erber, Imi Knoebel, as well as the Americans Barry Le Va, Fred Sandback and Al Taylor – share a long exhibition history with Galerie Fred Jahn, whose area of expertise is works on paper. Now they will be exhibited alongside younger positions. In the exhibition series “Es ist schon alles gesagt, nur noch nicht von allen“ (Everything has been said, but not yet by all), Matthias Jahn had already begun engaging with aspects of artistic juxtaposition and allowed an intensive dialogue between the generations to emerge.
