Supermercado is a group exhibit project created by Gallery Nouvelle Vague Marbella that ran in its physical form through 2018, now moving online in collaboration with London based Middle East Contemporary Art specialist Janet Rady Fine Art.
The exhibit indirectly refers to the seventies Warhol Factory years in the Lower East Side. In order to celebrate the opening of the gallery, Camilla & Firouz FarmanFarmaian have here gathered artists, friends, met and discovered during their many voyages. For many it will be their first exhibition in Spain.
The Space being located in a famous international consumerist hub, the exhibition aims to explore the relationship between merchandise and art, decoration and creation, marketing and philosophy.
This first inaugural edition, Supermercado 01, proposes to mix + obtain a combination of different art forms in an effort to mirror the different displays found in an imaginary Supermarket.
Are gathered to that effect 9 artists from different parts of the world - Dubai, Buenos Aires, Tehran, London, Andalusia, Paris, Marrakech or Saudi Arabia - plus a special guest, underlining that a range of different techniques, different artforms, different cultures and tastes can be displayed together.
