This inaugural exhibition, curated by Jessamyn Fiore, presents not only a prime selection of artworks from the collection but also archival materials that build a robust picture of his stewardship of the work and his close relationship with the artists.
Nearly fifty years after it began, the collection of Jean-Paul Najar has found a permanent home in Dubai and is for the first time open for the public to explore and enjoy, learn and create. Presented in partnership with Alserkal Avenue, the Jean-Paul Najar Foundation is honored to connect this seminal period of contemporary art history to the extraordinary energy of a burgeoning international art destination. The collection gathers European and American post-minimalist works from the 1960s to today, including paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures of varying scale. The vision of the Foundation is didactic, and its bespoke space—designed by Mario Jossa of Marcel Breuer & Associates—not only presents exhibitions from the collection but also facilitates public engagement through performance and education.
