Jen Mauldin Gallery is pleased to present Source & Reflection a Duo Exhibition by artists Lori Fox & Corie Humble. The opening reception will take place in presence of the artists on Friday, July 7th from 7 - 10 pm. Those who are familiar with the work of these rising artists will see tremendous growth and new depths achieved when viewing their latest pieces. Source & Reflection will include Lori Fox’s largest and most complex works to date along with Corie Humbles large scale mobiles. The exhibition is on view through July 29th, 2017.
Lori Fox is best known for her abstract geometric shapes and lyrical watercolor paintings of faces. In Source & Reflection, Lori blends these highly structured and free-form worlds together to explore the nature of light-source (sun) and shadow-reflection (moon). Spiritual energy and personal themes are infused in the work, but do not dominate the landscape, allowing the viewer to find meaning in each piece based on their own experiences.
Lori began watercolor painting 8 years ago. Over the years her work has been seen at Trestle Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), Black Cat Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), F+ Gallery (Santa Ana, CA), and was included in the "Hope Exhibition" (NYC).
Corie Humble’s mobile series investigates the vast possibilities of how a circle and line can be deconstructed and reconfigured into new compositions. Playing with weight, movement, and ultimately gravity the mobiles naturally lend themselves to a planetary quality, thus source and reflection.
Corie has been a leathers accessories designer for the past fifteen years. She is expanding into more sculptural product design with sand cast bronze homewares, while continuing mobile design in partnership with companies like Anthropologie, where she will have a capsule collection launch Fall 2017.
