Jessica Hagen Fine Art + Design is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibit Elliott Landy: Photographs 1967- 1969. The exhibit will open at the Newport Antiques Show Gala Preview Party at St. George’s School in Middletown, RI on July 27, 2017 from 5:00- 9:00pm. Elliott Landy’s iconic photographs of Bob Dylan and The Band taken in the late 1960’s (when they resided and recorded in the arts colony of Woodstock, NY) and his coverage of the 1969 Woodstock Festival captured the attention of a new generation seeking spiritual and artistic freedom. His imagery has become synonymous with the town, the famed 1969 music festival of which he was the official photographer and the utopian spirit of the “Woodstock Generation.” Among Elliott Landy’s celebrated works are portraits of Bob Dylan (Nashville Skyline) and The Band (Music from Big Pink, The Band.) Elliott Landy: Photographs 1967- 1969 is well timed; the exhibit opens the day before the start of the 2017 Newport Folk Festival and includes three photographs that Landy shot at the 1968 Newport Folk Festival. Featured will be a portrait of Janis Joplin performing at the 1968 Festival, which is particularly emblematic of the era and evokes the unique energy of the late 1960s. Elliott Landy is the author of eight books and his work has been exhibited and published worldwide. Elliott Landy: Photographs 1967- 1969 will be on exhibit at the Newport Antiques Show through July 30 th and at Jessica Hagen Fine Art + Design in the historic Point section of Newport, from August 2- 19, 2017.
