Jill Newhouse Gallery will exhibit for the first time at Masterpiece London
June 28-July 4th at South Grounds, The Royal Hospital Chelsea, London, SW3 4LW
Masterpiece London is the unmissable art fair at which visitors can view and buy the finest works of art, design, furniture and jewelry - from antiquity to the present day. The Fair offers an unparalleled opportunity for new and established collectors to discover exceptional works for sale across a range of price points from 160 international exhibitors and across every major market discipline.
The gallery will show a selection of recently acquired Master Drawings including works by artists such as Gericault and Millet through Bonnard and Vuillard. The earliest work on view is a rare pastel portrait by Simon Vouet done in 1632. Recent acquisitions include J. F. Millet’s important large drawing Le Depart of 1863, which has been in a private collection in Japan since 1985 as well as an important early Self Portrait in oil by Edouard Vuillard, which is a study for the painting Vuillard and his friend Warquoy in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum. This is accompanied by a group of 9 small colorful works by Vuillard depicting figures, landscapes and interiors. Pierre Bonnard is represented by a small early painting depicting Marthe on the Boulevard des Batignolles of 1903, and by 8 additional works on paper by Bonnard in ink, watercolor, and pencil.
