In the course of history, no category of art has had greater global impact than Chinese Porcelain. Its innovation, beauty and form was the marvel of the world and the result of countless firings and experimentations. Its recent use as a médium by contemporary artists like Ai Weiwei and Rachel Whiteread is pushing the boundaries of this traditional material and its cultural dialogue.
From 27-29 July, Jorge Welsh Works of Art will collaborate with London artist Bouke de Vries to present a special selection of works around the theme of “Perfect Condition” exploring the theme of value and its changing perceptions. De Vries , originally a fashion designer working alongside John Galliano and Stephen Jones, is an artist and conservator who gives new life to broken ceramics by repurposing them into sculpture.
Join for the “Meet the Artist” event on Sat, 28 July at 2pm for a special talk by Bouke de Vries.
