David Hockney: Homemade Prints

Fascinated by new opportunities that this development in printing technology could present in his work, this series exemplifies the artists constant drive for innovation.

Hockney discovered that the flatness of color photocopies from the early xerox machines could be overcome by printing the colors in layers, one at a time, thus demonstrating that this machine, when used with care and attention, could surpass its day to day function to create something truly incredible.
