For Art on Paper 2018, KETELEER GALLERY presents a new project by Belgian artist Antoine Roegiers. The soloshow at the fair will be called "La dernière valse", and is inspired by a recently discovered painting by James Ensor from 1891, called "Squelette arrêtant masques". Antoine Roegiers re-interpreting this Ensor painting is a continuation of art history and his contribution to it. He will show 13 new drawings (pencil and acrylic paint on paper) of the two main figures dancing. Roegiers makes these drawings to produce a moving painting of it afterwards. This video work …
