ON THE MOVE
THURSDAY 22nd of March 2018 16.00 -
On Thursday the 22nd of March, KIRK Gallery in Aalborg, Danmark, will host a new type of event. At the opening of the extensive international Urban Art exhibition, you will experience not only the artwork, but also a cosy loungebar with great food, music and drink.
Several of the artists have created wall murals in Aalborg, not to mention their work around the world, which can be seen on walls but also in art galleries. The exhibition is titled ON THE MOVE, and it will give you an insight into what is currently happening on the international Urban Art scene.
From being an underground culture, Urban Art is today a groundbreaking expression, gaining interest the world over from exhibitors and collectors alike. With this exhibition, KIRK Gallery has succeeded in gathering some of the very best and sought after names on the Urban Art scene today. Several of the ten artists are showing in Denmark for the first time, and their work gives an insight into what Urban Art embraces.
The exhibition spands from strong surrealist work by Dutch artist Joram Roukes, with his large oil paintings that are observations and representations of the modern world in which we live. To the American artist James Bulloughs work on board and paper, working with the tension between modern realism and urban art.
At the same time there are new vibes from Australian artist Fintan Magee, who is know for his many wall murals across the world, with a unique style mixing the surreal with the humorous or disturbing.
Finally there is also Robert Proch (PL) and Christian Veginer (I), who are already loved and known by many in the gallery, who will be showing new work.
The ten artists in the exhibition have very much been an influential essential part of the urban art scene for the past ten years, and are today part of collections and exhibitions across the world.
