The 14 works in the exhibition Lynne Cohen The 1970’s are some of the earliest photographs by the artist Lynne Cohen. Eleven of the works are contact prints from 5 x 7 and 8 x 10 inch format cameras that were taken between 1970-1979. The artist only started to enlarge her negatives to 51 x 61 cm (20 x 24 in) size prints in 1979. All the works in the exhibition were printed by the artist herself. These early vintage photographs by Lynne Cohen were taken in smaller, more domestic and personal spaces such as apartments or small businesses. The spaces seem more confined and claustrophobic …
