At this year’s edition of The Armory Show, Laura Bartlett Gallery introduces a two person presentation with artists Lydia Gifford and Marie Lund.
Lydia Gifford’s (b. 1979, United Kingdom) work offers an experience of interrelated objects, consumed surfaces and textural and physical nuances. Privately performative, she works intuitively, using the limits of the material as guidance; the work grows from an inquiry into the physicality of painting and, from the activity of application, layering and portioning, forms amass and take on sculptural volumes. She lives and works in London.
Marie Lund (b.1976, Copenhagen) investigates the actual or notional traces we leave in the spaces we occupy, bringing to the forefront the materiality of daily, overlooked encounters. From concrete casts of rucksacks to repurposed curtains, she explores the familiar from new perspectives and attempts to reshape the everyday. She lives and works in London.
