Lawrence Fine Art is pleased to present "Judy Mauer: NYC Dolls", an on-line exhibition on Artsy featuring work from Mauer's acclaimed "NYC Dolls" series.
NYC-based Street photography artist Judy Mauer shoots department store mannequins and the street life around them as reflected in the window to create a multi-layered narrative that is, at once, realistic and fantastical. Mauer does all her work in camera. There is no photoshopping. Judy writes of her work: "Combining these various and random elements makes each image not only the sum of its parts, but something entirely separate: a new narrative that is created by fusing the inside and the outside. This layering transports us to another space entirely — one in which relationships are exposed and rewritten, and the distinction between real and unreal is blurred."
Mauer combines elements of fashion photography and even political or religious commentary in her works. In the process, she gets us to see anew.
All works are sold in limited editions of 10. They are archival pigment prints mounted under plexi to give them a sleek, contemporary presentation.
