LeMieux Galleries is pleased to present a new exhibition of digital prints by New
Orleans artist Debra Howell. The exhibition will open with an artist’s reception on Saturday, January 7th from 6-8 p.m., and will remain on view until February 24th. LeMieux Galleries is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
In Adaptations Howell looks at how a “home” might survive in an environment that’s threatened by rising water levels. She explores this theme using our historic homes as her backdrop as they are already survivors. And because we are merely the temporary caretakers of these houses—that are older than ourselves and that will hopefully be standing long after we are gone—she chose to make them the subject of these ‘survival portrait’ narratives rather than their humans. Debra Howell received a BA in Fine Arts from Bryn Mawr College and an MFA in Printmaking from Tulane University. She has lived in New Orleans intermittently since 1969.
